Notes On… Love Letters by Metronomy

Dear Metronomy,

Firstly, I must confess how I love you so. Ever since the day I first laid my ears on you, I have truly fallen for you. It began as a crush with the release of ‘Nights Out’ in 2008.  2011’s ‘The English Riviera’ saw my crush blossom into full blown love. Now, I find my love growing ever stronger.

This is in no small part due to your latest track ‘Love Letters’, which you unveiled towards the end of last month. The titular track from your forthcoming new record is a glorious, glistening tribute to the golden era of Motown.

Built around a buoyant, bouncy piano riff, ‘Love Letters’ sparkles and shimmies its way to a euphoric chorus that bursts with aural wonderment.  Spliced with elements of various genres – such as the belting baroque trumpets, this track perfectly demonstrates the continued sonic growth of the band.

The Michel Gondry directed video is an absolute belta, too.

Please, please keep up the good work and know a place in my heart (and ears) will always be reserved for you.

Love always,

George Shaw
