I fall in love with this man more with every new track he drops. First it was the gorgeous old school soul of ‘Coming Home’, which first appeared on his SoundCloud as a rough demo towards the back end of last year. He followed that up with the heartfelt, silky, smooth-as-honey-funk of ‘Better Man.’ Now he’s back, with his third, and for me, stand out release. ‘Lisa Sawyer’ sees the Fort Worth soulster channeling Otis Redding and Sam Cooke to great effect, creating an authentic, gloriously warm timeless sound, worthy of a place among Motown’s greats.
He’s got Santa on his side as well; Leon signed to Columbia Records on Christmas Day. Expect his forthcoming debut to be huge.
