EL VY (sounds like the plural version of Elvis) is the wonky-pop, semi-electro collaboration of The National’s chief baritone vocal master Matt Berninger and Menomena multi-instrumentalist Brent Knopf. They’ve just kicked off a tour of the US – much to our chagrin they’re not coming anywhere near the north east of the UK, which is a shame because we do love a cover and this one’s a doozy.

Stereogum were kind enough to report that, while opening their tour at the Doug Fir Lounge in Portland, Oregon, the pair broke into a cover of the Fine Young Cannibals track ‘She Drives Me Crazy.’ Here’s some fan footage unfortunately not taken by us:

Here’s a fine and dandy track from EL VY’s debut album Return to the Moon, which came out on 4AD last week. We’ve been playing this one quite a bit, though we’re still not too sure who Paul is.
