Today’s the day that Natalie Prass releases her five-track EP Side By Side, essentially a slightly stripped back way of allowing her to cover a few of her favourite songs and rework two originals in the Spacebomb Studios of Eels man Matthew E. White.
She’s already covered two standards, Simon & Garfunkel’s ‘The Sound of Silence’ and Anita Baker’s ‘Caught Up In The Rapture’ but perhaps more surprisingly she’s also done a jazzy little remodel of Grimes’ recent single ‘REALiTi.’
She said of the cover: “REALiTi by Grimes. Four chords. Simple lyrics and melodies. I think the world of her. We worked this song out in the studio having played it before and recorded it like three times through. I think it works although she’s probably going to say ‘what is this jazz shit’ and hate it.” Somehow we don’t think so Natalie…
Listen to her cover of ‘REALiTi’ below. Side by Side is out today.
