Minnesotan Sarah Winters – singer-songwriter, producer, mastermind behind Vox (pronounced ‘wokes’) – has already created five tracks of haunting pop with streamlined production that occasionally borders on the experimental. Using her voice more as an instrument than a method of delivery words, she’s living up to her name by bending what she can do with her vocal chords alone.
That’s no different on her latest track ‘Get Down,’ inspired by the breakup of the same relationship that she documented in ‘Put The Poison In Me.’ Wintery and chilling, the minimalist production sometimes gives way to layered beats that pack a punch without jarring with its sparse moments. It’s a beautiful testament to the breakdown of a relationship that Bjork would be proud of.
