Hey, you want to know what’s mystifying? How Sheffield five piece Hey Sholay haven’t become as massive as their contemporaries The Maccabees. They make some truly sublime, slightly psychedelic pieces that are infectious and give Mr. Weeks and co a run for their money.
But if you’re familiar with The Maccabees’ canon and not with Hey Sholay’s, their latest single is as good as any place to start getting acquainted. ‘Ribcage’ is a meld of warm and fuzzy guitars with trippy overtones that feels reminiscent of the epic soundscapes Foals are now known for. On top of that there’s a beautifully swooning chorus that’ll get stuck in your head thanks to its curiously romantic but also slightly creepy sentiment.
Listen to ‘Ribcage’ below.
