Over the past year or so there’s been a strong revival in soul and gospel music that’s been taking the hearts and minds of the masses. With Benjamin Clementine winning the Mercury Prize and Leon Bridges becoming Grammy nominated, the trend shows no signs of slowing down and in Samm Henshaw we’ve got another strong talent.
For his latest track ‘Autonomy’ he enlisted the help of grime darling Bonkaz, pushing the boundaries of what the neo soul genre can do. Though the song starts with timeless piano chords, it’s soon accompanied by gritty bass and 808s that help to keep it fresh and modern.
