With a heady mix of Krautrock, industrialism and something of an aggressive attitude, Swedish quartet Oracle North created one of the underground post-punk records of 2015 in their EP Communion. Less than 12 months later they’re back for more, and are no less confrontational, releasing their latest high-octane single.
‘Underzone’ starts with some electronic bleeps before turning into a post-punk jamboree. Some deep-rooted bass and almost jangly but powerful guitars combine with Olov Andersson’s doom-laden vocals to create something that’s like the lost time between Joy Division and New Order. It’s nagging and gets under your skin.
