Listen: SOFI TUKKER – ‘Hey Lion’

A couple of months back we talked about only the second single to be released by New York based addict-pop duo SOFI TUKKER, ‘Matadora.’ It was the one inspired by Brazilian culture, remember? Of course you do. It was a track by the ridiculously infectious SOFI TUKKER and it’s now permanently lodged in your brain. Well, get ready to lose a few more of your permanent brain megabytes to the pair with their latest offering.

‘Hey Lion’ is a bit weird and if you want some proof, here’s Sophie Hawley-Weld talking about the track: “‘Hey Lion’ is like a sonic snack. It’s not like ‘Drinkee’ or ‘Matadora’, which were made as vibration journeys. ‘Hey Lion’ is like the opening chant to Soft Animals … we want to welcome people into our version of this animal-world, where strength is soft and nobody is boss (except for youuuuu and your bodyyyyy which may love what it loves).” It’s fill of put-downs, hypnotic beats and Hawley-Weld’s unusual singing style. So if you think Kero Kero Bonito are a bit too J-Pop but love their oddball bitchiness, you’ll lap this up. Like a lion. At a pond. Get it?
