Fans of atmospheric ambient music rejoice! Queen of all things epic Julianna Barwick is back with a new album, Will, which is out soon and it can’t come too soon after the release of her last LP Nepenthe. As most fans of Barwick will know, she spends much of her time touring around and so, perhaps inevitably, this new album focuses on the effects of living a life almost completely in a transitory state of flux.
‘Nebula’ is the first track to be taken from Will and the accompanying video, directed by Derrick Belcham, was filmed in the Philip Johnson Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut. It’s as hypnotic as Barwick’s music itself, and while her voice continually loops and wraps you up in its beauty, you can watch a series of equally gorgeous landscape stills. Although it’s as fleeting as some of Barwick’s own experiences, it’s also mesmerising.
