London based songstress Only Girl returns with Heights, another sweet slab of R&B infused pop. The follow up to previous single Fortune, Heights once again sees Only Girl’s soulful vocals shimmer over sparse snares and euphoric, sporadic piano chords.
“I know you can take me higher, higher – and I can only reach those heights with you” she sings, in a chorus that keenly captures the dreamlike bliss of being with the one who, in her words,
lifts you up and gives you that sense of elation and strength; those support figures in our life who we reach out for when we feel broken.
It’s about the most perfect sitting in the garden in the sun track you’ve heard so far this year.
Ahead of the release of previous single Fortune earlier this year, I spoke to Only Girl about the importance of independence, the role of women in music production and cheese. You can check it out here:
With powerful performances at Glastonbury, The Great Escape, a support slot on BROODS’ UK tour and previous sold out headline shows at London’s Electrowerkz and The Courtyard Theatre under her belt, Only Girl has announced her largest headline show to date at The Borderline on Thursday 23rd November, presented by DHP Family.
DHP presents Only Girl live at The Borderline, London on 23.11.17. Tickets available here.
